New production facility expands capacity for GranOcean’s semi-custom W-Series, fully custom X-Series and 32-meter flagship now under construction
ZHUHAI, China — July 20, 2026 GranOcean, the Zhuhai-based builder of luxury custom and semi-custom power catamarans, has officially opened a new 300,000-square-foot production facility in Jinwan District, Zhuhai.
Powered entirely by a large-scale solar energy system consisting of one square mile of solar panels, the new shipyard significantly expands GranOcean’s manufacturing capacity while placing cleaner energy at the center of its yacht-building operation.
The production base was inaugurated with a traditional lion dance and ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by members of the GranOcean team, manufacturing partners and marine-industry representatives.
The opening of this factory is an important milestone for GranOcean,” said Eric So, Managing Partner and Lead Designer. “It gives our team the space and advanced production environment needed to support a growing range of yachts while continuing to deliver the customization, craftsmanship and engineering our owners expect. Powering the facility with solar energy also reflects our belief that progress should extend to the way our yachts are built.
GranOcean specializes in large power catamarans designed for owners seeking ocean-going capability, generous living space and extensive personalization. The company’s semi-custom W-Series includes the W-60 and W-72, with flexible layouts, interior selections and owner-driven features that extend well beyond the choices typically available from production builders.
Its fully custom X-Series ranges from 24 to 32 meters and is developed around each owner’s cruising plans, preferences and intended use. Across both series, GranOcean is known for stable multihull platforms, long-range efficiency, thoughtful engineering, refined fit and finish, and expansive living spaces.
The company’s growth is highlighted by the GranOcean X-32, currently under construction and scheduled to launch in December 2026. The 105-foot, all-carbon-fiber flagship is being designed for an approximately 5,000-nautical-mile range.
As a fully bespoke platform, the X-32 can accommodate features such as a private owner’s apartment, bow swimming pool, twin garages for tenders and water toys, and helipad capability. It combines superyacht-level space and amenities with the stability and operating efficiency of a multihull.
The expanded Zhuhai facility will provide the scale and technical capabilities needed to support projects such as the X-32 while increasing production capacity across GranOcean’s complete range.
